چکیده

E-commerce is one of the few sectors in the current Dutch economy that is still experiencing substantial growth. This growing industry faces two key challenges: international expansion and the phasing out of warehouses. Dynamic pricing can aid in meeting those challenges. However, this is currently only available as tailor made solutions for companies with big IT development budgets. In this paper we research the possibility of offering dynamic pricing functionalities to web shops as a service, in line with the service oriented architecture (SOA) paradigm. We focus on e-commerce retailers that sell non-perishable goods in plenty supply. We introduce a categorization of dynamic pricing strategies with a threedimensional model. On this we base a design of a SOA which we analyse using theoretical grounds and a practical case study. Two major problems have arisen from this analysis. First, a potentially negative impact on customer loyalty. Second, a potential problem with the data model for storing prices used by the underlying ERP system of the case study web shop. Based on these problems we had to conclude that we cannot confidently say that such a service is feasible.

A framework for pricing government e-services

Governments are in the early stages of providing constituents with information and services online over the Internet. E-government service decisions should be rooted in solid finance principles, such as efficiency, equity and revenue adequacy. Pricing decisions should be tailored to meet the demands of particular constituent groups and the revenue needs of government. By so doing, governments c...

Applications of flexible pricing in business-to-business electronic commerce

The increasingly dynamic nature of businessto-business electronic commerce has produced a recent shift away from fixed pricing and toward flexible pricing. Flexible pricing, as defined here, includes both differential pricing, in which different buyers may receive different prices based on expected valuations, and dynamic-pricing mechanisms, such as auctions, where prices and conditions are bas...

A DSS-Based Dynamic Programming for Finding Optimal Markets Using Neural Networks and Pricing

One of the substantial challenges in marketing efforts is determining optimal markets, specifically in market segmentation. The problem is more controversial in electronic commerce and electronic marketing. Consumer behaviour is influenced by different factors and thus varies in different time periods. These dynamic impacts lead to the uncertain behaviour of consumers and therefore harden the t...

Thompson Sampling for Dynamic Pricing

In this paper we apply active learning algorithms for dynamic pricing in a prominent e-commerce website. Dynamic pricing involves changing the price of items on a regular basis, and uses the feedback from the pricing decisions to update prices of the items. Most popular approaches to dynamic pricing use a passive learning approach, where the algorithm uses historical data to learn various param...

A System for Querying and Viewing Business Constraints

In E-commerce processes, various rules and constraints regarding product specifications, pricing, terms and conditions are exchanged between vendors and buyers. Developing a formal model for those rules and constraints gives a foundation for new E-commerce applications. Our approach is to develop a constraint database holding these conditions as dynamic constraints and provide a query language,...
